Welcome to NickFeyFitness
If you are visiting, that means you may be interested in starting a new health and fitness journey. First off congrats, and I am extremely excited to help! I found my passion for personal training initially in 2014 while attending the University of South Dakota, but I would say 2010 was when my personal fitness journey began. I grew up in a small town (Pop. 400, yes I wasn’t lying!) and just like any high school athlete I wanted to be bigger, better, and stronger so I took to the weight room and promptly began bench pressing 5-6 days a week because, frankly, that’s all I knew. Although I did get some assistance along the way, I never had a proper weightlifting coach or really anyone watching me while I worked out.
Fast forward a few years and a couple shoulder surgeries later, I began working out at the University of South Dakota. The USD Wellness Center became my second home, even before I worked there! To be quite honest, the wellness center was bigger than my whole school back home, so I was fascinated by all the shiny new machines, equipment, and weights available to me. I also have many friends to thank for their guidance on different exercise programming formats, proper technique, and recovery methods. For a note, at this point I still had 0 plans of becoming a personal trainer, but rather was on track for either physical therapy or medical school.
In 2014 I truly learned there is so much more to health and fitness than just lifting weights. My father abruptly passed away that year and, though I pray this never happens to anyone, if you have experienced a loss like this you know you learn to grow up extremely quick. I do not blame any specific scenario to his death, nor do I speculate on “what-ifs” of what could have saved him. It did, however, make me realize that life is short and I was going to do anything I could to live the healthiest, fullest life I could for my family.
Shortly after I asked my mom if I could borrow $500 to sign up for a personal training certification course, and since then the rest is history. (Thanks Mom!) I have worked with hundreds (potentially thousands if we include group classes as well) of clients over the last 6 years in multiple different settings. I spent time interning as a collegiate level strength and conditioning coach as well as have certifications in health coaching, medical exercise specialization, and Precision Nutrition Level 1. My client demographic has varied from ages 14-85 with goals ranging from weight loss, strength gain, performance, injury prevention, and more!
I started this business to provide better quality and easy access to personal training services to make health and fitness that much easier. I think back to 14-year-old me in a small town gym needing a coach, college me trying to learn all I could, and now a soon-to-be father trying to live the healthiest life possible for my family. All of which hit awfully close to home. No matter where you are in life, there is time to take care of yourself and it does not have to be difficult. Whether you have home gym equipment, attend a commercial gym, or nothing at all- I tailor all programs and plans to where you are right now and your personal goals long term. All you need to do is reach out, schedule your free consultation and I promise I will help you create a long-term plan to get you on track, keep you going, and make these life-long changes.
Thank you for your time!
